VEUVE CLICQUOT WIDOW SERIES 2017, CURATED BY CARINE ROITFELD

VEUVE CLICQUOT WIDOW SERIES 2017, CURATED BY CARINE ROITFELD

Carine Roitfeld has announced details of her highly-anticipated curation of the annual Veuve Clicquot Widow Series; an immersive experience encapsulating creative expression in the arts, music, and fashion. The third instalment of the series, entitled ‘SEVEN’, will bring Carine’s vision of the Seven Deadly Sins to life at 17 Islington Green, London. Tickets for Friday 20 and Saturday 21 October will be available to purchase from Frida 9t eptember.

Roitfeld, who is respected for her decisive role within the fashion industry as well as her own personal and daring aesthetic, will bring her individual style and edge to The Veuve Clicquot Widow Series.  At ‘SEVEN’, guests are taken on a journey through seven rooms, to experience not only Carine’s vision of the bewitching aspects of each sin, but their seven virtues as well. Roaming between spaces, guests will immerse themselves in the furore of Wrath, tempestuous Greed and Gluttony, slumberous Sloth, feverish Envy an ride and uncontrollable Lust.

With opposites attracting, the contrasts between good and evil will be starkly presented with their corresponding virtues. The event will also contrast Carine’s truly French aesthetic with her rock’n’roll influences, adding layers to the theme and subsequently stimulating all five senses.

Carine’s enviable black book will be fully utilised for the creation of ‘SEVEN’, with Tom Ford contributing, MaxMara designing the hostess uniforms, and Karl Lagerfeld providing lavish fabrics and a couture outfit from FENDI for the sin of ‘Wrath’. Clare Waight Keller, the artistic director for Givenchy, will be providing outfits for the “Envy” part of the journey, and Atsuko Kudo, the designer behind Kim Kardashian and Rita Ora's famous latex dress designs, is co-curating the installation for the sin of ‘Lust’.

No detail will be overlooked in this years curation and in line with this, renowned Italian designer Gianvito Rossi will be providing the shoes for the series. Also joining Carine on the Widow Series as Creative Director is artist Patrick Kinmonth, internationally acclaimed opera set director and costume designer, who works alongside his co creative-director in their company “The Visual Clinic”, Antonio Monfreda, famed for his artistic work with Italian fashion house Fendi. Both will support Carine to bring this chic exhibition to life.

Carine Roitfeld says of the theme: "Seven has always been my lucky number in life. I constantly find inspiration in the number seven: the shape of it, the sound of it, the meanings and what it represents. It’s the seven wonders of the world, it’s lucky seven, it’s the seven days of the week, and now for me it’s Seven Deadly Sins."

The Veuve Clicquot Widow Series pays homage to the revolutionary founder of the house, Madame Clicquot, who was famously widowed in October 1805. A trailblazer of her time, she single-handedly took on her late husband’s champagne business, and went on to pioneer several industry innovations whilst demonstrating her unparalleled creative dexterity, much like Carine Roitfeld.

Now firmly established on the London calendar, this annual event allows Veuve Clicquot to seek seminal creatives who have an unfulfilled desire or passion project they wish to bring to life mirrorin h alue adam licquot. Carine will be using various forms of symbolism to nod to the heritage of the house - one of which is Madame Clicquot’s birthday year, 1777, reflected in the overall theme.
