ST JAMES'S & PICCADILLY CELEBRATE THE 10TH LONDON COCKTAIL WEEK
London residents and visitors are invited to celebrate the 10th anniversary of London Cocktail Week (3rd– 14th October) at selected bars in St James’s and Piccadilly. Some special cocktails have been created to mark the occasion, with plenty on offer for all sorts of cocktail enthusiasts. The line-up this year is marvellous: Haymarket Hotel, Franco’s, Le Méridien Piccadilly, Maison Assouline, Milo’s, The May Fair Bar, The Royal Academy of Arts, Sofitel London St James’s, Wilton’s and 45 Jermyn St.
Relax at Haymarket Hotel in Brumus Bar & Restaurant with a signature floral cocktail named Are We There Yet, featuring Sipsmith London Dry Gin, Aperol, lime, Macchu pisco, lavender and egg white. In honour of London Cocktail Week, the bar staff will mix any of the cocktail classics or will create a drink to suit guests’ personal tastes.
Recently re-designed Franco’s has re-opened with a brand new dedicated bar area at the front of the restaurant, with Head Barman Andrea Vesnaver keeping a watchful eye over the cocktail proceedings. Franco’s will be serving up twists on classics all week long, with a different cocktail showcased each day. Up first is the classic Negroni, which Andrea will modernize with Cynar, an artichoke liquor.
Le Méridien Piccadilly
Visit the Maskelyne & Cooke bar at Le Méridien Piccadilly, an immersive underground hideaway featuring close-up magic from internationally renowned acts, tantalising cocktails and magical masterclasses. Enjoy a selection of magical cocktail offerings that smoke, change colour or even float, including ‘Levitation’, featuring Gin with St. Germain Liquer, Agave Syrup, Lavender Bitters and Butterfly Pea Flower Tea.
Cigar lovers should step into the Maison Assouline flagship store to enjoy four cigar-themed cocktails at The Swans Bar. Talented Mixologist and F&B Director Stefano Fogu leads the way with this limited-edition, bespoke cocktail collection, inspired by the novel ‘The Impossible Collection of Cigars’. The cocktails are presented in original cigar boxes, with smoke, surrounded by an outstanding, eclectic mix of art and culture.
Milos is known for serving fine seafood and guests can visit the mezzanine overlooking the ground floor dining room framed by a seafood bar. Boasting an intimate atmosphere, the mezzanine bar offers a variety of cocktails including the Rhubarb Basil Martini, made with rhubarb-infused, double-distilled Tsipouro, basil and rhubarb sugar syrup, lemon juice and fresh basil. Delicious.
The May Fair Bar
Alongside an exclusive exhibition of Marilyn Monroe’s dresses, May Fair Bar will be offering a unique cocktail experience called The Marilyn Monroe Collection, inspired by each of the four outfits on display in the hotel. Cocktails are named after Marilyn’s character in each of the films: Lorelei Lee (from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes), Kay Weston (River of No Return), Sugar Kane (Some Like It Hot) and Victoria Hoffman (There’s No Business Like Show Business).
The Royal Academy of Arts
Visit the newly restored Senate Room in the beautiful surroundings of the Royal Academy on Piccadilly. Overlooking Burlington Gardens, the Senate Room is the perfect spot for some elegant evening cocktails. Inspired by its Italianate surroundings, a specially curated range of cocktails are on offer, including the RA Negroni, Mistrai Martini, La Duchessa and more. https://www.royalacademy.org.uk/
Sofitel London St James’s
Inspired by the decadence of vintage Paris, guests can escape from the hustle of the city in the St James’s Bar at The Sofitel Hotel. In celebration of London Cocktail Week, a special cocktail offering has been devised for the occasion, ‘Roku Daime’, featuring Roku gin, homemade cherry syrup infused with green tea and apricot, lemon juice and a splash of cherry soda.
In celebration of London Cocktail Week’s 10th anniversary, and heralding the history of Wilton’s on Jermyn Street, St James’s, Wilton’s has created their own signature Bullshot cocktail. Often referred to as the Bloody Mary’s ‘uncle’, a Bullshot comprises Vodka and Worcestershire sauce, but switches out the typical tomato juice for a rich beef broth. At Wilton’s, it’s served with a dash of hot sauce, as you like, and is perfect to wash down a dozen oysters.
45 Jermyn St.
Visit 45 Jermyn St to experience excellent cocktails, rickies and nostalgic alcoholic ice cream floats. Try the Ampersand, featuring apple and cinnamon infused Bourbon, lemon sorbet, raspberry and a squeeze of lime. You can tailor drinks to your personal taste, adding in the spirit or soda yourself, with a choice of homemade syrups available. Mocktail versions available for non-drinkers.
