PAX 3 REVIEW: HOW I GOT ON TRYING OUT THE LATEST PREMIUM VAPORISER

PAX 3 REVIEW: HOW I GOT ON TRYING OUT THE LATEST PREMIUM VAPORISER

“Sleek, lightning fast heating and strong vapour.”

This month, i’ve been trialling PAX 3, the latest high-end dry herb and concentrate vaporiser from the popular PAX brand. I did a little reading before it arrived and found that many people are likening PAX 3 to an ‘Apple-like’ vaporiser, praising its sleek design and advanced technology. Compared to other standard vaporisers, this one really does look and feel Like a luxury item. It’s made with aluminium, featuring smooth, rounded edges that allow you to slide it into your pocket with ease as you dash out the door. It’s discreet - if you didn’t know what it was, you might easily mistake it for a stylish memory stick or a portable power bank.

PAX 3 comes in a variety of colours - silver, a limited edition rose gold, black, and teal. I went for the rose gold, which blends in nicely with my new kitchen (where I work from home and vape throughout the day)! I have been testing out the PAX 3 ‘complete kit’, which includes a 10 year warranty. You can expect 8-10 sessions per charge, 60+ temperature settings, 22 second heat-up and smart vibration notifications. It’s Bluetooth enabled and can be controlled with the PAX Mobile app if you’re into tech. There are 3 screens, a half pack oven lid, concentrate insert and a multi-tool.

First Time Firing Up the PAX 3

The oven lid at the base of the device comes off with a little pressure. It’s recommended that users pack the oven firmly with their chosen plant and at least half way full for the very best results. To turn the device on, you press on the mouthpiece - unexpected but simple. PAX 3 heats up extremely fast (10-20 seconds) and vibrates when it’s ready to use. At this point, you can put lips on the mouthpiece and inhale.

If you are smoking dry herb, you can expect a huge white cloud as you exhale on the hottest settings. To capture more of the plant and for a more discreet vaping experience, use a lower heat setting. If, like me, you’re vaping CBD oil to help relieve stress or pain, you will not see any vapour! Do not be fooled, the effects of the oil are 4 times stronger when vaping (the alternative is to eat it or spray it into your mouth - which in my opinion tastes like a hamster’s cage). Thankfully, vaping CBD oil is tasteless and pretty much odourless. It also produces beautifully calming effects!

Tech Fun and Charging the PAX 3

If you pair your PAX 3 to a smartphone app via Bluetooth, you can customise the LED light colours or increase the temperature of the device for a more intense vaping experience. Throughout use, LED lights on PAX 3 show heating status, battery life, and temperature settings. It charges on a docking station that uses a micro-USB plug and it takes around an hour and a half for a full charge. For quick charges between uses, you can plug it into your laptop or computer.

The Verdict

I have been playing with PAX 3 for around 2 months now. I don’t have any reason to dim the LED lights, as I am not sneaking around my local town in the dark with something to hide. I am not a seasoned professional when it comes to dry herb vaping, so I don’t need to tamper with the pre-set temperatures either. I can see, however, that these are useful features for people who require discretion. I love the look of the device. It is a design feature on my new coffee table and this often prompts my guests to pick it up, ask questions and ‘have a go’. The machine heats up fast and provides a smooth and strong vaporising experience. All in all, PAX 3 makes my other vaporisers look and feel thoroughly inadequate!
