Sometimes, all that is required is a quintessentially British afternoon tea, designed to restore the soul and nourish the body. I’ve been busy searching for the most beautiful and unique afternoon teas in London and i’m pleased to report that this includes afternoon tea options suitable for families, children and those with allergies! Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion, getting to know someone new or just treating yourself because you really deserve it, I hope that your afternoon tea in London is filled with delight.
1.) ‘What’s The Tea’ at The Perception in W London, Soho
For a playful and fabulously-fun afternoon tea experience in the heart of Soho, The Perception at W London has launched its brand spanking new, eye-catching and glitter-filled ‘What’s The Tea?’ inspired by the decadent world of drag! The bold offering will be available to devour daily with a monthly drag extravaganza featuring the glamorous Globe Girls. What’s The Tea? will be served daily in The Perception from 1PM-5PM for £39 per person, for £44 with a glass of Prosecco or £49 per person with the marvellous KiKi cocktail.
Tickets for the Afternoon Tease series will be available for £55 per person and will include an afternoon tea with a glass of Prosecco and entry to the show. 2.) ‘Best of British’ at The Green Room in The Curtain Hotel, Shoreditch
The Green Room, located within The Curtain Hotel, has launched a new afternoon tea celebrating the best of British classic tea treats. Guests can expect traditional afternoon tea with all of the trimmings, including plain & fruit scones with jam and clotted cream, a selection of fine tea cakes, smoked salmon bagel, Gin & tonic cucumber sandwich, devilled eggs, and a tea of choice. Hackney Herbal will be served, including the bespoke 'Curtain Blend', with flavours such as echinacea, sage and liquorice.
Available from Friday to Sunday, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm, guests can enjoy traditional afternoon tea for £30 per person and Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Brut NV Champagne afternoon tea for £40 per person. 3.) ‘Fancy Tea at Lyaness’ at Lyaness in Sea Containers London, South Bank
Lyaness (located within Sea Containers London) has launched ‘Fancy Tea at Lyaness’, a fun and innovative menu which is a playful take on the high-end 80‘s dinner party. Expect a range of typical English delights: devilled eggs, sausage rolls and fruit trifle, roast beef, rosemary mayo and rocket focaccia sandwiches, a Sunflower Salt tea cake and strawberry and mascarpone eclairs. Paired cocktails include the Glasshouse Spritz (Ultra Raspberry, cherry tomato, bubbles) and Carter Cobbler (Infinite Banana, Grey Goose, green tea Bianco).

4.) Gin Afternoon Tea at Conrad London St. James, St. James’s
Conrad London St. James has launched a new Gin Afternoon Tea in partnership with the City of London Distillery. Notes of juniper berries, fresh orange & lemon and coriander seeds in the Square Mile Gin have been expertly paired with a Charred Lemon & Pink Grapefruit Tart with Rosemary Meringue. There are lots more delightful pairings waiting to be discovered! All cakes and cocktails are perfectly served with freshly baked scones, a selection of delicate sandwiches and a wide variety of teas from Lalani & Co.
Available from Friday to Sunday, 1:30 pm - 6:00 pm, guests can enjoy the Tea Collection Gin Afternoon Tea for £39 per person or the Gin Afternoon Tea with a glass of G H Mumm Champagne for £45 per person. 5.) Mr Ma's Afternoon Tea at The Academy, Bloomsbury
Malaysian hotel brand YTL Hotels will be launching Mr Ma's Afternoon Tea at The Academy Hotel, Bloomsbury on the 12th June. Inspired by Lao She's novel, Mr Ma and Son, the quintessential, British afternoon tea has an all-day Asian twist and pays homage to the hotel's literary and cultural connections to Bloomsbury.
Available daily from 12pm – 6pm, guests can enjoy Mr Ma’s Afternoon Tea for £25 per person (includes complimentary glass of Prosecco), Mr Ma’s Bloomsbury Afternoon Tea for £35 per person (includes glass of Bloomsbury Sparkling Wine) or Mr Ma’s Gin Afternoon Tea for £35 per person (includes Gin & Tonic cocktail). 6.) Traditional Afternoon Tea at Brown’s Hotel, Mayfair
Brown’s Hotel in Mayfair are serving an indulgent Traditional English Afternoon Tea, involving a choice of 17 teas, including Brown’s own blend (any questions feel free to ask Brown’s very own tea sommelier), along with a selection of succulent finger sandwiches, an assortment of delicate pastries, fruit and plain scones with clotted cream and strawberry preserve. All enjoyed with a glass of chilled Ruinart champagne! Also on offer is a Tea-Tox Afternoon Tea, a healthy version of the award-winning Traditional Afternoon Tea and includes open sandwiches, humous and crudites, and sugar-free cakes and fancies.

7.) Afternoon Tea with a French Twist at sketch, Mayfair
The afternoon tea at sketch London is a French twist on a quintessentially British tradition. Guests can expect tea in The Gallery, with a selection of sandwiches and petits gateaux, scones with jam and a cake from the trolley which is all refillable as the classic Afternoon Tea option.

8.) St James’s Inspired Afternoon Tea at The Stafford Hotel, St James’s
The Stafford London’s newly launched, decadent afternoon tea takes you on a journey around historic St James’s and its secluded streets, served in the comfort of the hotel’s recently refurbished and redesigned spaces. Dainty finger sandwiches and delicious, homemade sweet and savoury scones are accompanied by cakes and pastries inspired by some of St James’s oldest boutiques: Lock & Co, Floris, James J. Fox, Henry Poole & Co and Foster & Son.
