REVIEW OF BRAND-NEW ALL-DAY DINING HOT SPOT: HANS' BAR AND GRILL, CHELSEA

Hans’ Bar & Grill is Chelsea’s latest and greatest dining gem, conveniently located next to Sloane Square on the picturesque Pavilion Road. The restaurant is a brand-new addition to the road, inspired by its namesake Hans Sloane. Open from 7am and serving an all-day seasonal menu, fine wines and signature cocktails, this new hot spot offers something for all the family.

Melissa and I booked an early dinner on a Wednesday afternoon, tempted by the many positive recommendations we had received from local friends and family. The space is spacious and beautifully designed, able to host corporate events and special family occasions with an additional private dining room comfortably seating up to 14 for a private meal or 25 for a sparkling drinks reception. The private dining room boasts bright natural daylight and has its own private entrance.

Melissa's Order

  • Starter: Hand-picked Brixham crab with apple, Cornish leaves, sourdough crisp

  • Main: Poached salmon with cucumber and goat’s curd

  • Side: French fries

  • Dessert: Salted caramel chocolate pot with vanilla ice cream

Victoria's Order

  • Starter: Tuna tartar with yuzu, wasabi and coriander

  • Main: Pan fried stone bass with artichoke barigoule

  • Side: French fries

  • Dessert: Pineapple carpaccio with lime, chilli and coconut sorbet

Paired with an excellent rose wine, this ended up being one of our favourite evening meals of the year so far. The staff were professional, knowledgable, fun and genuinely friendly and joyful (unlike some waiting staff in London who would obviously rather be elsewhere). This made a huge difference to our dining experience.

Melissa, forever the chocoholic, finished off the evening by trying an Avocado Sloane Hot Chocolate, which she reported was ‘smooth, creamy and not at all overpowering when paired with a chocolate bomb dessert’. We're keen to return in the chillier months during the day for more of these!
