MY BAKE-OFF ADVENTURE WITH DOLCE HOTELS & RESORTS BY WYNDHAM

You may have noticed some exciting bake-off action on my Instagram story recently. I am happy to report that following a fun and dynamic afternoon at the Waitrose Cookery School, I can now successfully bake Italian biscotti! True to form, following this event, I had a client meeting at The Polo Bar in Mayfair, followed by an evening event at William & Son. Naturally, I had to explain why I had biscotti remnants in my hair multiple times…

The event was powered by Dolce Hotels and Resorts by Wyndham, who have since announced the launch of Due by Dolce, a signature biscotti hand-crafted by Dolce’s expert chefs from a recipe chosen during this special event. “Dolce” means “sweet” in Italian and “due” is the word for “two”. The sweet treat is aptly named as the biscotti will always be served as a pair - one biscotti is never enough!

Chef Aleece Alexander of Dolce Aspen Meadows Resort was crowned the Biscotti King, for their innovative recipe of pistachio, apricot and cranberry biscotti. Although I was on the rival team, I have to admit that this recipe was truly delicious - my family agreed, I took a box home for them! Hotel guests can now enjoy the winning biscotti at Dolce locations around the world.

Former contestants of The Great British Bake Off, Benjamina Ebuehi and Selasi Gbormittah, were on hand to coach, mentor and support two teams throughout the baking process as the two finalist chefs, Chef Aleece Alexander of Dolce Aspen Meadows Resort and Chef Adrien Clauwaert of Dolce by Wyndham La Hulpe Brussels, went head-to-head to determine the ultimate winning recipe. This fun and interactive bake-off was judged by a panel of industry experts who evaluated taste, texture, presentation and creativity to crown the winning recipe.

The judging panel included: Jessica Gunn, editor of Waitrose Magazine; Meike Back, Cookery Director of Good Housekeeping; and Giovanni Belli, President of Assocantuccini, the Association of Producers of Cantuccini Toscani (the traditional Italian biscuit which has become internationally known as biscotti) from Italy.
